Welcome to Barratt Folk |

Hi, I am Richard and I first consciously got into Folk at a Folk Song Concert at the Lichfield Folk Festival a few years ago, closely followed by singing at a Singaround. My goal in providing this site is to share with you some ideas of what I have found to be going on in Folk Music and Song around the Central South Coast of England, particularly Hampshire. (Geography is not my strong point so some events and places which I have enjoyed outside this area are also included.) Time however presses on and it ia already the end of February as I update this page. During the week my I was handed a CD by Threepenny bit after they had been caught performing in Fareham Shopping Precinct. Having listened I agreed that it was really enjoyable and now I need to find them online so that I can find out where we can hear them next. If you catch up with them I hope you have time to listen. The links at the top of the page will take you to some information within this site which I find helpful and which will lead you to some of my experiences, in terms of Clubs I enjoy visiting, publications which help me find out what is happening, and some of the Festivals I try to get along to. One day there will be a calendar of forthcoming events which includes details of programmes at some of the clubs I have visited as well as Festivals and events which I am looking forward to. Looking forward to catching up with you at one of the clubs or other events I visit in the next couple of months. The Event Calendar may give you some ideas about where to try next. The information is as accurate as reasonably possible. Please remember that clubs open or close and groups form and separate on a regular basis. If you have information which contradicts these pages or if you feel they need updating or you just disagree with the words (Or if you just want to say Hi) please contact me using the details on the linked page Feel free to browse around the site. Thanks for visiting and I look forward to seeing you here again soon. Page updated 25th February 2012 (Nearly time for the Easter Festival.) |
